2014 marks the 26th consecutive vintage of Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA) wines from the Gräfenberg. Due to wet conditions, 2014 was a particularly trying vintage to achieve a TBA. The berries barely had time to shrivel into raisins. The only remedy was an especially intensive selection process, with an unusually high number of workers culling an extremely small yield. Then again, the fact that a Trockenbeerenauslese was even possible at all in this challenging vintage comes thanks to the near perfect drainage in the rugged soils and the drying winds blowing in from the Taunus and over the Gräfenberg helping to keep the berries dry and healthy. Kudos to this sensational vineyard!
